The Taala Foundation is working in collaboration with the Initiative for Strategic Litigation in Africa (ISLA)-a feminist Pan-African organization that is focused on the strategic litigation of women’s human rights and sexual rights at national levels and within the African human rights system- to kick start activities under the Sexual Rights Litigation Network (SXLN) Chapter in Uganda.
The Sexual Rights Litigation Network is ISLA’s innovation to respond to violations on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity by creating an enabling environment to litigate strategically on these issues before the domestic, regional and international human rights systems. Through the network, the Taala Foundation and ISLA aim to promote the rule of law and establish progressive jurisprudence on sexual rights in Uganda by building a body of actors that can hold states accountable for violations against persons based on their gender and/or sexuality.
This call for applications is for Lawyers that are willing to fully engage with this network to be part of the change we wish to actualise. Interested parties should fill in a complete application form attached to this call and submit the completed form to legal@taalafoundation.org under the subject: SXLN Application.
