Call for Applications: Psychological First Aid Training (PFAT)- Cohort 3
The Taala Foundation is excited to announce the call for applications for our upcoming third cohort of Psychological First Aid Training (PFAT), part of our Akili-Afya program. We are seeking committed individuals who are passionate about mental health and eager to provide support to communities in need. Applications are encouraged from those who work closely with marginalised communities.
About The Taala Foundation
The Taala Foundation is dedicated to bridging the gap in access to wellness support for marginalised persons in Africa. Our holistic approach to wellness recognizes the interconnectedness of physical, mental, social, intellectual, spiritual, and occupational well-being. Through our programs, we aim to foster greater levels of dignity, tolerance, respect, and acceptance for diverse people within the broader society.
About the Project
Psychological First Aid is an essential intervention designed to provide immediate support during mental health emergencies. As part of our Akili-Afya program, this initiative focuses on building the capacities of partner organizations, networks, and individuals who serve as first responders in mental health crises. PFA involves humane, practical, and supportive care for individuals experiencing acute stress or trauma due to crisis situations. It is a critical tool to ensure psychological recovery and resilience in those affected by disasters, violence, or emergencies.
Who Should Apply?
This training is open to individuals and organizations interested in providing Psychological First Aid. No prior mental health qualifications are necessary. We welcome applications from anyone working closely with communities affected by trauma, including:
- Gender and sexual diverse persons
- Mental health advocates
- Human rights defenders
- Community workers
- Volunteers within health and wellness spaces
What to Expect
As a participant, you will receive comprehensive and intensive training in PFA, equipping you with the skills needed to respond to mental health emergencies in your community. The training is designed to build your capacity in offering early intervention and fostering support for those in crisis.
This is a voluntary opportunity, and exceptional participants may be considered for further developmental roles within the Taala Foundation.
